Our Spay and Neuter Policy
Sunrise Labradoodles wants only the best for your puppy. Spay and Neutering puppies is very controversial. But, we believe that the benefits of spay-neuter outweigh the risks.
We send our puppies out on a spay/neuter contract by 12 months of age which is recommended by most veterinarians. With emerging research on the resulting health outcomes we feel this is a good age for spay and neuter as it helps ensure your puppy is safe and healthy as possible.
Benefits
-
Reducing pet overpopulation and promoting a longer lifespan for dogs and cats
-
Eliminating female dogs’ heat cycles and reducing mating-related behaviors, which can be frustrating to owners
-
Reducing male dogs’ breeding instinct, resulting in less roaming and urine-marking behavior
-
Preventing future possible reproductive tract diseases such as pyometra (a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus)
-
Protecting male dogs by eliminating the risk of testicular cancer and reducing the risk of developing enlarged prostate glands (known as benign prostatic hyperplasia)
-
Preventing and reducing the risk of breast cancer in female dogs
We require all puppies from us, to be spay or neutered by the age of 12 months.
You and Sunrise Australian Labradoodle will sign a binding contract with a company called SpaySecure. SpaySecure will do the follow up reminders to ensure that you have in fact spayed or neutered and provide proof for Sunrise to approve before the required timeframe.
